Ok, falei um pouco difícil, mas é melhor exemplificar com o próprio jogo. Sem esperar muito desse jogo, além de ser só mais um jogo do esporte, o jogador passa por situações que fogem totalmente dos padrões. Contudo, quando algo foge do normal por muito tempo acaba se torna o novo padrão. Entretanto, não é isso que acontece com What the golf?, pois ele constantemente se inova na imprevisibilidade, gerando muitos momentos de humor.

O jogo não possui uma história, nem se propõe a ter. Na verdade, é apenas um grande Hub que libera fases novas conforme você passa as anteriores. Cada nova tela possui uma temática que é explorada aos poucos e vai se tornando cada vez mais engraçada, subvertendo as coisas como já as conhecemos e gerando momentos de uma incrível satisfação por ter sido enganado. Não vou detalhar aqui para que a sua experiência não seja perdida, pois ela fica melhor quando não se tem ideia de como isso acontece.
A jogabilidade explora o que já vimos em muitos outros jogos, sejam do gênero ou não, pois é basicamente a jogabilidade de um minigolfe. Enquanto a bolinha é arremessada vários metros para cima no Golf normal, no Minigolfe ela nunca sai do chão, sendo bem mais fácil para iniciantes tanto no esporte real como nos jogos. E assim é What the Golf?, simples e intuitivo. É um conjunto de mini-games que utiliza mecânica de golfe, fazendo isso das formas mais variadas e inimagináveis possíveis. Além disso, para completar, ele faz inúmeras referências a muitos outros jogos, dos mais clássico até dos mais polêmicos, subvertendo o que entendemos de minigolfe e até dos próprios jogos por ele referenciados.
Sua dificuldade é bem balanceada. Cada fase possui três níveis, sendo cada um mais difícil que o outro, sendo que somente o primeiro nível é requisito para avançar no jogo. Mas são no segundo e terceiro nível de cada fase que estão as principais surpresas do jogo. Ao final de cada área você tem a possibilidade de enfrentar o chefe, que é um computador que traz mini-games bem divertidos, e avançar para o próximo estágio.

What the Golf? surpreende pela forma simples de subverter os padrões mais firmes que temos, gerando ótimos momentos de humor, sendo perfeito para uma jogatina rápida e descompromissada. Seu design agrada sem causar nenhuma estranheza, pois não é necessário muito para o que o jogo propõe.
Recomendo-o para quem quer algo para jogar em momentos curtos do dia e para quem gosta de gênero de minigolfe. Quem gosta de puzzles e jogos de humor também se divertirá muito com ele. Mas não recomendo para quem prefere jogos com mais ação e efeitos, pois ele é bem casual e simples nessas questões.
