Dessa vez, vamos explorar o extenso mundo de coadjuvantes da Nintendo! E pra começar essa série, precisamos falar daquele que começou tudo: o Mario Verde! Ops, Luigi!
O irmão gêmeo
Luigi nasceu junto com o primeiro game do Mario (Mario Bros, 1983) que tinha a responsabilidade de manter o sucesso do jogo do Donkey Kong (saiba as curiosidades desse game clicando aqui). Foi feito devido à necessidade enxergada por Miyamoto de tornar a experiência mais divertida. Como ele pensava em fazer isso? Ele buscou inspiração em um jogo chamado Joust (1982) e colocou o multiplayer no jogo.
Miyamoto decidiu por usar a mesma imagem do Mario (agora finalmente batizado), porém colocando roupas verdes para não confundir os jogadores! Daí surgiu a explicação que os dois eram gêmeos e o Mario Verde (como é chamado até hoje pelos menos avisados) foi batizado de Luigi. Aqui vale a curiosidade: apesar de o nome Luigi ser essencialmente italiano, também pode ser baseado na palavra ruiji, que em japonês significa “similaridade”. Não temos um pronunciamento oficial, mas essa é uma hipótese bastante plausível, não é?
Deixando de ser o “Mario Verde”
Se analisarmos a história, vamos percebendo pequenas inserções de personalidades no Luigi que fizeram ele se tornar esse coadjuvante que é tão querido quanto o personagem principal! Isso é tão verdade que, para muitos, o Luigi é o personagem preferido (depois do Yoshi, claro!). Além da personalidade própria, no jogo Super Mario Bros. 2 deram para o Luigi um visual próprio, ou seja, ele deixou de ser o Mario com a cor verde!
Virou um heroi medroso, que é ágil e extremamente carismático. Aliás, esse contraste entre ser um heroi e, ao mesmo tempo, ser medroso é o que faz ele tão interessante! Afinal, essa característica está presente em cada um de nós, não é? É até engraçado pensar a salvação do mundo nas mãos de um covarde. Com tudo isso, ele foi ganhando tanta popularidade que, em 1992, estreou seu primeiro jogo solo: Mario is Missing (clique aqui para saber mais).
Porém, somente após várias gerações de consoles que o Luigi pôde finalmente viver uma aventura solo em um videgame da Big N! Foi no Gamecube que ele pôde se sentir um verdadeiro caça-fantasma, explorar uma mansão mal-assombrada e salvar, novamente, seu irmão! Aqui vai um ponto: por que o Luigi sempre resgata o seu irmão? Não tem uma princesa pra ele resgatar não?
Mais recentemente estrelou um jogo! Tá, é uma DLC! Mas ele estrelou o New Super Luigi U, expansão lançada para o New Super Mario Bros U, em comemoração do Year of Luigi. Isso demonstra a importância que esse personagem tem no universo maravilhoso da Nintendo.
Seja em uma jornada solo, seja como nosso eterno e querido player 2, Luigi está com lugar cativo nas nossas memórias. É carismático, divertido e muito interessante! Um irmão não só do Mario, mas meu, seu e de todos que, um dia, tiveram a oportunidade e o prazer de jogar um jogo utilizando esse coadju………. coadjuvante nada, né? Ele é uma das estrela da Nintendowood!
