Controles x crianças
Recentemente fui a um shopping aqui em minha cidade. Neste shopping há uma área cercada que tem brinquedos e os pais pagam para deixar as crianças brincando enquanto resolvem as coisas que têm que fazer. Um desses brinquedos era um PS3 e um outro era um X360. Isso me fez refletir sobre toda a evolução dos vídeogames, mais precisamente sobre o controle.
Quem jogou o SNES ou Megadrive provavelmente tem boas lembranças de seus controles que se encaixavam nas mãos. Sim, eles se encaixavam nas nossas mãos pequenas e jogávamos por horas e horas confortavelmente. Afinal, eles eram feitos pensando em nós, crianças! Porém, se formos jogar hoje com o mesmo controle, provavelmente acharemos que é pequeno e desconfortável. Isso ocorre pois as nossas mãos cresceram, dando essa sensação de desconforto que não tínhamos antes.
Acontece que a evolução dos games exigiu adicionar botões (principalmente os R2 e L2) e controles analógicos (que também funcionam como botões) que aumentaram os controles de uma forma que eu não tinha percebido, pois eu já estava crescido. Eu só fui perceber isso vendo as crianças (de aproximadamente 5 anos) tentando brincar com os controles gigantes (comparados às suas pequenas mãos) e cheios de botões. Seus pequenos dedos não alcançavam direito os comandos do controle.
No entanto, criança é persistente! Para poder jogar, apoiavam os controles sobre as pernas ou na própria mesa. Para que você possa entender um pouco a dificuldade, cito um problema: elas precisavam largar o direcional direito para poder alcançar o botão R2. É claro que elas estavam se divertindo! Se para crianças uma caixa vazia já é um brinquedo massa, imagine um videogame!
Fiquei por um tempo olhando até que elas pediram para trocar o jogo para utilizar o controle por movimentos e, dessa vez, percebi uma facilidade de jogar e uma inclusão dos pequeninos! Se divertiam muito com tudo ali. Reparei então o controle com que estavam jogando antes e que agora descansava sobre a mesa logo à minha frente! Era realmente grande para as mãos deles.
Tendo isso em vista, eu quero fazer um convite a vocês, leitores: tentem imaginar-se jogando com um controle maior que as suas mãos, de forma que você tivesse as mesmas dificuldades que aquelas crianças tiveram. Eu naquele momento me imaginei tendo esses obstáculos à minha diversão! Sabe qual foi o único pensamento que me veio na cabeça? O pensamento de que eu, adulto que sou, simplesmente seria vencido pelas dificuldades a mim apresentadas e abandonaria os videogames! Triste, não é?
Isso me deixou entristecido, pois boa parte das boas lembranças de minha infância foi com meus primos e amigos jogando vídeogames de forma confortável! Felizmente, crianças são crianças e elas se divertem! Mas acho que a indústria deveria pensar um pouco nelas novamente, desde jogos até o hardware. Quero deixar claro que não estou dizendo com isso que tenhamos que mudar tudo que evoluímos até então, mas ter um controle menor e que se adeque às mãos das crianças já seria uma grande evolução. Afinal, nós somos o presente da indústria dos games, elas são o futuro!

Concordo com você. Os controles de hoje não são feitos para as crianças jogarem, mas sim feitos para mãos de adolescentes/adultos. Um dos recursos que meus amigos que tem filhos usam é o controle (ou sensor) de movimento. O 3DS é perfeito também, eles gostam muito, mas não tem aquele gostinho do jogar em grupo que tínhamos na infância. Mas acho que as crianças se adaptam bem ao que tem para brincar, elas dão sempre um jeito. Rs. Vou entregar a minha idade agora… quando eu tinha por volta de 3 anos de idade meu primo tinha um Atari, eu não tinha condição nenhuma de segurar aquele controle enorme para minhas mãozinhas (rs), então sentava no chão, colocava o controle apoiado nele e conseguia jogar muito bem o meu jogo favorito Keystone Keepers. Hehehe!
A criança se adapta sempre com o que ela tem a sua disposição! O problema não está em deixar de gostar ou não de jogos, mas em migrar para outros suportes, como PC, tablet e smartphone. Quantas crianças abaixo dos 5 anos que você conhece que já mexe do tablet ou no celular dos pais para jogar? Muitas e não é atoa. Talvez isso seja a questão que levantou, de não ser confortável para os pequenos jogarem. Achei a sua análise bem interessante!
Agradeço muito o seu comentário, Lívia! Realmente os pontos levantados por você com relação ao 3DS são bem bacanas. É um controle que muitos adultos reclamam de ser pequeno, mas para as crianças é perfeito. Mas ainda assim, o 3DS é uma experiência em sua maioria solitária.

Realmente a migração para tablet e smartphones têm ocorrido muito pela falta de jogos para os pequenos. A indústria parece que tem se esquecido deles e muitos pais não podem sequer jogar o videogame perto dos filhos pequenos por medo das cenas de sexo, morte e drogas que temos nos jogos. Não estou criticando esses jogos! Mas é que a indústria se tornou uma variação desses temas ou todos juntos em um só. Quanto ao PC, eu não classificaria como uma migração, pois as crianças sempre estiveram jogando ali, não é? Talvez as crianças estejam ficando somente com o PC em vez de ter as duas opções.
Jogos tipo Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc são necessários até para integração pais e filhos, pois é para todas as idades! Não podemos perder isso!
